Holoholo Shack Inspiration
Holoholo Shack was inspired by my very own Hawaiian 'Ohana... in particular my maternal Grandmother from Maui, who would hand sew my Mom, Sister, and I matching muʻumuʻu's when I was growing up.
To me, a muʻumuʻu is more than just a garment - it is the warmth of a loved one, it is a security blanket, it is all the warm-cozy-fuzzies you feel in your 'Ohana Hale... it is everything Aloha...
On a recent Summer vacation to Kailua, Kona, I came across a Herb Hawainui Kāne painting called, "Daughters of the Sea" and found myself entranced. It was at that moment, transcending to another place and time, that I knew I had to bring Holoholo Vibes to life.
Daniel Inouye, Former United States Senator from Hawaii, took the words right out of my mouth - “When you saw a Herb Kāne painting, you were energized and motivated to learn about the past. …His artwork captured both ancient and modern-day Hawaiʻi and help preserve Hawaiʻi's unique culture for future generations.”
This was the catalyst that turned my mu'umu'u dreams into reality...
