Collection: Ho'āla (Pre-Loved Vintage) Mu'umu'u Collection

The mu'umu'u is a timeless and iconic garment that reflects the unique cultural History of Hawai'i, having been introduced to the islands in the 19th Century. In January of 2022, Hawaii’s Governor David Ige declared January as “Mu’umu’u Month” as a way to celebrate and honor Hawaii’s unique fashion identity, and to celebrate a more simple time in its history. Mu’umu’u Month is a way to honor our Kūpuna, preserve traditions, live sustainably, and allows like-minded Wahine to come together as a 'commuunity' where they 'talk story', swap mu'umu'us, and enjoy all the varieties of vintage mu'umu'u, holokū, and holomu'u. Each unique piece was made in Hawai'i anywhere between the 1950s through late 1980s. The earlier pieces were made of 100% cotton while the more modern varieties started using cotton/poly blends.
